Safety and Health

TCC believes that the safety and health of our workers is fundamental to our business. TCC’s vision of “Every person going home safe and healthy every day” forms the core of our business. We are committed to the identification, elimination or control of workplace hazards for the protection of our employees and others.

TCC’s Safety and Health System complies with mining industry's best practices along the following 9 measures in order to assure a safe work environment:
  • Leadership and Personal Commitment
TCC encourages its people to be vocal about safety and health at work place and advocate compliance to safety procedures and standards at all times. Safety leadership from amongst the TCC employees ensures that at every working spot the workers watch over each other’s safety and health.
  • Training and Competence
TCC has regular training and competence programs to enhance work related skills and knowledge of the employees so that they are better able to perform their tasks in a reliable and safety compliant manner. This enables the workers to take work related decisions that are safe and at the same time productive.
  • Risk Management
As a safety conscious company, TCC believes and makes efforts to avert hazards. Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Management of Change are core to TCC’s pro-active approach to dealing with concerns and issues, which have the potential to create unplanned, unexpected or undesirable consequences.
  • Operational Controls and Procedures
  • The integrated nature of TCC’s H&S System ensures that the operational controls and procedures are in place and continuously updated with findings of risk assessments. This ensures that work activities are performed safely, worker health is protected and regulatory compliance is maintained.
  • Health and Wellness
TCC’s Health Control measures provide a systematic approach to the anticipation, identification, evaluation, control and monitoring of workplace health risks and exposures.
  • Contractor Controls
Health and Safety Controls recognize that with every external intervention in the shape of contractors the risks may both increase and take unfamiliar forms. TCC ensures basic awareness and training of the contractors in order to align them with the norms of the internal work place and thus ensure the safety and health of all workers.
  • Incident Investigation
At TCC, proper incident reporting is applied followed by thorough investigation and root-cause analysis. Remedial actions are then applied and monitored to measure their effectiveness. This process ensures that responsive solutions are implemented and recurrences are cancelled.
  • Emergency Preparedness
Regular emergency response drills, availability of response equipment, presence of a dedicated emergency response and evacuation staff and advance warning systems ensure that sufficient level of preparedness is maintained in case of such situations. Even though all possible prevention measures are implemented, TCC ensures that the employees are trained, equipped and always ready to successfully deal with any untoward occurrences.
  • Performance Measurement and Assessment
TCC’s performance assessment and measurement systems are designed to comply with health and safety controls. This way continuity of work, achievement of targets and improvement in performance is made directly proportional to the maintenance of safety measures. This ensures effective planning and continuous improvement both critical to the success of a long term nature of the mining business.
