TCC aims to minimize its environmental footprint and safeguard the environment for present and future generations. TCC is committed to manage and mitigate environmental impact at all stages of the Reko Diq project development - from exploration through operations to closure.
As a responsible environmental manager, TCC makes all efforts to minimize environmental impacts of the work we undertake. We believe in maximizing value for all stakeholders only through sustainable development of mineral resources. The environmental impact assessment undertaken for Reko Diq focuses on identifying and assessing project impacts on the environment (physical, ecological, socio-economic); avoiding, minimizing, mitigating or compensating adverse impacts, enhancing positive impacts and engaging affected communities.
TCC’s Environmental Management Plan has been designed to ensure that all environmental measures identified in the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) will be fully implemented. Special attention is paid to the main impact groups identified through the ESIA process, these being:
- Land and Landscape Transformation
TCC as a responsible operator is committed to providing safe crossing points where travel routes exist and to liaise with the local communities to confirm best alternate routes around disrupted areas. The company also provides maintenance of these alternate routes for the life of the operation.
-
Water Resources
A water management plan that verifies the prediction of impacts is an important part of managing our water resources. The efficient usage of technologies in plants, workshops, offices and campsite in general helps to preserve this precious resource.
- Releases to Air
TCC is committed to being a responsible operator and continues to ensure that releases to air are monitored. Air dispersion modeling for dust or emissions on a proactive basis helps determine the need for any control program implementation.
- Noise and Vibrations
Risk Assessments will determine the operational controls and procedures that must be in place to ensure that any part of TCC operations are within the standard requirements. Wherever possible these elements will be accommodated in the engineering design stage.
- Ecology and Biodiversity Disturbance
All aspects of the operation and processes are considered in order to minimize animal and wildlife disturbance.
The Environmental Management System is based on a global set of performance standards. By regularly measuring our performance against these criteria, we are focused on the continual improvement of our Environmental performance.
TCC's environmental policies and procedures are developed and implemented to address all applicable environmental laws, regulations and agreements. Training of TCC employees, refresher courses and follow up with the local communities are key to the development and delivery of environmental education and guidance.
