Reko Diq project achieves milestone of one year of injury free operations

QUETTA, July 3, 2009: Tethyan Copper Company Pakistan’s (TCC) managed Reko Diq project achieved a milestone when it completed 365 days of injury free operations at the site. This is considered an exceptional achievement in extractive industry when employees are able to perform their duties without any occupational injury or illness hampering their work schedules.

This milestone is especially commendable in the context of limited mining experience in Pakistan with
no prior established 'safety culture'. This success demonstrates TCC’s commitment to establish world class Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) standards and practices at Reko Diq

TCC staff celebrated this achievement by organizing a function at the Reko Diq site camp. Speaking on the occasion TCC’s CEO Cassie Boggs appreciated the commitment of not only the TCC employees but also the contractors who helped to achieve this milestone. She said that as a company based in Balochistan TCC is committed to bring benefit of its presence to the local people through job creation, skills development, technology transfer and investment in the province.
